"Why have you been standing here idle all day long?" Matthew 20:6 NASB

Why indeed? Why do some believers get up without fail and seek God in the morning? Why do they lay their petitions before Him and eagerly watch, anticipating His answer? Why do they set their alarms, forfeit some sleep and make themselves leave their warm bed to commune with their Lord? Because they are in love with the Lord Jesus.

Because they heard God calling them by name and they answered His call. Because they study God's Word and they believe every single word from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 is truth. Their faith is built upon that truth and their lives are lived in obedience to that truth that has been revealed to them.

Most importantly, Gods Word has brought them into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and they know Him intimately, and nothing satisfies like Him! Nothing the world offers, absolutely nothing can compare to Him and the peace and the joy you experience just by being in His presence!

"O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!" Psalm 34:8. "As the deer pants for the water brook, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?" Psalm 42:1-2.

Why is it while their brothers and sisters are laboring in God's vineyard, while they are harvesting fruit for Him and for His glory, some like these, stand idle? What is the difference; both are saved, both trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior, both groups will go to heaven, yet some will be about their Father's business and others well, they are taking care of their own business.

Stop allowing yourself to be complacent, don't be content with just sitting in a pew on Sunday mornings. Don't be content until you know Jesus, until you share your deepest feelings with Him, until He takes you by the hand and leads you to indescribable treasures in His Word!

Don't stand idle while others are drinking of the river of God's delights. Don't stand idle while the harvest fields are ripe; Go, tell the lost about Jesus before it is too late! Then you will begin to discover the dimensions of His love for you!
