"Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem." Luke 9:51

Christ our Lord steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, for Jerusalem, the betrayal, the suffering, the cross, the resurrection, the glory was why He came to our little blue planet and in 33 years He never once lost sight of Jerusalem.

What a beautiful life application for His followers, for how easily do we get distracted from our kingdom work for the Lord! Satan the accuser of the brethren, knows He cannot stop God's work but He knows that if He can get us distracted we will be of very little value to the Lord. He knows He has the best return on investment by distracting us with good things, for instance;

Church activities so wonderful, such blessings, great fellowship and if we aren't careful delightful distractions... We must make our agendas line up perfectly with God's agenda to assure that we are involved in what He would have us to do, and since HE is the one with the plan for our lives, HE is the one that knows where and when we are to spend our time.

We should never be willing to settle for good when God has planned the best for us! Beware the moment that your service for God leaves little time left for time alone with your Lord, may that be a place that you are never willing to go...
