"And Jesus said, "Who is the one who touched Me?" Luke 8:45 NASB

Have you ever in your life touched Jesus? Have you ever had a need so great that it drove you to press through the crowds to find Jesus? The woman in this story from Luke 8:45 did just that. This woman had suffered with incurable hemorrhaging for over 12 years, she had made the rounds of physicians and no one was able to help her. Yet this woman had something else that was greater than her hemorrhage, she had hope, faith in this Rabbi named Jesus! And she knew that if she could just touch the hem of His garment she would be healed. She had three things going for her;
1. She knew she was sick
2. She knew her need was Jesus Christ
3. She had faith to reach out and touch Jesus

How many others in the crowd that day didn't even know they were sick, not just physical disease but a far greater sickness, sin in their lives, sin that was controlling their lives and their own self-righteousness was blinding them to their need of a Savior?

Still others were content with living their lives their way, oblivious to the Source of abundant life that was standing right in front of them, Jesus Christ. They had no idea that they were settling for existing when they could be living!

Many people in the crowd that day knew their need, they had heard the accounts of this Man from Nazareth who healed the sick, delivered the possessed, gave sight to the blind, raised the dead, loosed the tongue and opened the ears of a deaf mute, cleansed the lepers and yet they hung back because of doubt that Jesus would do that for them, kept them silent!

Luke 8:45-46,48; "And Jesus said, "Who is the one who touched Me?" And while they were all denying it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You." But Jesus said, "Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me." And Jesus said to the woman, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace."

The woman's faith touched the Son of God and power went forth from Him and met her need. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6.

Will we stay in the crowd represented by those three groups or will we be as the woman? Do you or someone you know have a need so great that it requires a miracle from God? Are you willing to press in through prayer until you have touched Jesus, knowing that power will be released on behalf of yourself or others? Do you choose to believe that what He has done for others He will do for you?

"Ask and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7.
